Oak and Beech

Relating to my previous post, I present a photograph that illustrates the more obvious differences between oak (Quercus robur) and beech (Fagus sylvatica) – colour and texture. The oak is green and crusty, as opposed to the beech which is relatively smooth, with a silvery grey trunk that has a hint of blue in the right light.
